After years of being alone in the digital boxing ring, EA Sports finally has some competition from a familiar rival with the announcement of Don King Presents PrizeFighter. 2K Sports has teamed with Phantom Games to create a sim that captures the life of a professional boxer inside and out of the squared circle.

While most boxing games presents your career as a list of opponents you have to beat on the road to being the champ. PrizeFighter showcases your legacy with a high quality documentary chronicling the major events that occur as you step into the role of “The Kid,” a young fighter who you have to train while seeking promoters from Larry Easton all the way to the Don.

During the course of career mode, you’ll be making a lot of tough choices that affect your boxing life. The struggle [no pun intended] to balance both training and media image affects your performance leading up to a fight. Add the possibility of injuries, corrupt judges, hometown favoritism and stacked odds to the mix, you never know what kind of adversity you’ll have to overcome to be champ.
